Elevate your craft by learning the structure beneath the surface

So Many Anatomy Courses Focus on Memorization—Not on Seeing.  This One Teaches You to See.

If you’ve ever tried to learn anatomy from diagrams and muscle charts, you know the drill: Latin names, static poses, endless details you can’t quite retain.  It’s overwhelming.  And worse—it doesn’t stick.

Because artists don’t learn by memorizing.

They learn by building, shaping, and seeing structure come to life.

Hi, I'm Ryan

I'm a sculptor and teacher who helped build ZBrush.

You might recognize my name from inside ZBrush itself where you can find my Anatomy figure, my rake brush as well as other projects I created like Demo_Head and Demo_Soldier.

Whether you're just starting or you want to level up, I’m here to help you see, feel, and create like a sculptor.

I've been teaching Anatomy & ZBrush for over 20 years at studios like ILM, Disney, EA, Ubisoft and more.

Over the years I've learned...

... Piecing It Together Doesn't Work...

Most artists try to learn anatomy in fragments. A sketchbook from life drawing here, a YouTube tutorial there, a reference pack saved on their hard drive. It feels productive, but it never adds up. Anatomy stays confusing — random parts without a system. You might know where the bicep goes, but not how it flows into the forearm. The result is the same every time: you’re still guessing instead of creating.

And when the fragmented approach doesn’t work, most artists double down on style. They jump straight into exaggerated characters, comic heroes, or digital sculpts. But without a foundation in anatomy, style turns into distortion. Figures look stiff, awkward, or just plain “off.”

And Digital Tools Can’t Save You

Even the most powerful software won’t fix weak anatomy. ZBrush is the industry standard for character creation, but most artists get lost in brushes and details before they’ve built the structure. That’s why so many sculpts stay stuck at the bust stage — technically polished, but lifeless. Without anatomy, ZBrush becomes a trap, not a tool.

And this leads to the familiar wall. You can draw, sculpt, maybe even paint figures. You’ve learned the software, you’ve put in the hours. But your work still looks “okay,” not professional. That’s because anatomy is the bridge between amateur and pro. Until you master it, your art will always stop short of the next level.

It's The Skill Every Pro Learns Too Late

Ask any professional and they’ll tell you: anatomy is the foundation they wish they had started with. Without it, you’re always stuck copying what you see. With it, you can invent from imagination, fix mistakes, and create with authority. It’s the difference between hoping your art works… and knowing it will.

That’s why studios like ILM, Disney, and Ubisoft have brought me in to train their teams. It’s why I helped build the anatomy pipelines that power modern character art — and why I created the anatomy figure that ships inside ZBrush itself.

Learn The Same Lessons I’ve Taught at ILM, Disney, and Ubisoft

Over the years, I’ve taught hundreds of artists at studios like ILM, Disney, and Ubisoft. I helped build the anatomy pipelines that power modern character art, and I created the anatomy figure that ships inside ZBrush itself. I know what it takes to go from struggling with figures to creating professional work — because I’ve trained the very artists who bring today’s most iconic characters to life.

And that’s why I built this course.

To give you the same clear, structured foundation that I’ve taught the world’s top studios — now designed for independent artists like you. Whether you’re sculpting in ZBrush, painting on canvas, or sketching in a notebook, this program will teach you the anatomy that makes every figure believable.

A Different Kind of Anatomy Course.

In my Anatomy For Artists course, we don’t just label the muscles—we sculpt them.  One form at a time, from the inside out.

You’ll build the figure as a living structure—understanding its mass, gesture, and rhythm.

You’ll train your eye to see what most people overlook:

  • the flow beneath the form.
  • the structure beneath the surface.
  • the visual truth that makes great art believable.

Built for All Artists,

Empowered Through Digital Sculpting

When you sculpt, everything slows down.

You stop guessing.  You start seeing.

Sculpture is more than a medium—it’s a method.  It forces you to engage. To observe. To understand.  And that’s why it works.

Whether you draw, paint, animate, or design—sculpture unlocks your ability to think in form.

No, you don’t need to be a Sculptor to learn like one.

Whether you’re a painter, illustrator, concept artist, animator, or designer—this course is for you.

We teach this course using  ZBrush. But don’t worry—no experience required.

You’ll learn everything from the ground up, step-by-step.

Why digital? Because it’s fast, forgiving, and flexible—perfect for learning.

But this is not a tech tutorial. It’s a fine art course grounded in timeless principles.

Marcello Baldari

I’ve been seeing improvements since I started, and I’m really happy about it! Big shoutout to you, king 👑

John Carbon

Understand forms helps me understand sculpting anatomy at a different level. The techniques and the way Ryan sculpts changes my approach in sculpting.  Absolutely recommend the course

Razvan Arventiev

You explain things clearly and focus on what it is like to be an artist as well as what you have to do to sculpt something.

Hamzah Kassim

I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone who is serious about improving their skills as a sculptor or even as a 2d artist. The more you understand the better!

Juan Munoz

As a teacher Ryan is awesome, he is honest with his comments, give you advice and also keep you motivated. The feedback he provide me at that time was clear and concise, exactly what I needed to see things that I even realize before.

Coroian Eduard

A lot of areas of the body got demystified for me . The re just were nuggets of gold , just seeing how a form is actually sculpted and not just pure anatomy knowledge.
